GM for SMG-Managed Pensacola Civic Center Wins National Award

Cyndee Pennington, General Manager and Southeast Regional Director of Live Entertainment for SMG, is one of only three women recognized for the coveted Women of Influence award by Venues Today, an international trade publication. Following her nomination a couple of weeks ago, the industry, comprised of venue managers, agents and promoters, voted from 33 candidates.

"This is one of those moments in your career that make you take a step back from the day-to-day duties and reflect on yourselfŠ how you startedŠ where you are and where you want to go. Again, I just feel overwhelmed and honored to receive this award, especially considering all the phenomenal nominees." stated Pennington.
Pennington started on the ground level and has worked her way up to become one of the most experienced facility managers in SMG's arsenal leading them to three contract renewals since SMG became the management company in 2001.

The other two winners of the award are:

Susette Hunter, Director of Sales and Marketing - Birmingham-Jefferson (Ala.) Convention Complex

Vanessa Kromer, Senior Director of Publicity - Nederlander Concerts

Venues Today will be featuring the three 2012 Women of Influence winners in their July issue. The awards will be presented at IAVM (International Assembly of Venue Managers) Women in Leadership Program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida next month.
