Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club
Affiliated with Ice Skating Institute, which is based on recreational figure skating with the ability to compete.
We currently have 50 individuals who participate age 6 to adult. Our skaters come from Fort Walton to Mobile to skate on the only ice located along the Florida and Alabama Gulf Coast. We have ice available from October through March. Days vary on a week to week basis, depending on the Pensacola Bay Center schedule.
This is an individual sport where you progress at your own rate. Levels are taught according to ISI guidelines and you are tested on each level from basic through freestyle. Typically you begin working with a coach in a group lesson with skaters in your level. As you progress you will continue to work in groups. Private lessons are also available for more advanced skaters. A parent or guardian must remain on premises at the Bay Center for children under age 10. You may be tested when your coach sees correctness and consistency in your required skills for that level. Click this link for current ISI test requirements http://www.skateisi.com.
Registration/Membership with the Club AND participating in a lesson program either group or private is required to skate with GPFSC. Ice time does not include coaching fees, which are paid on a daily basis to the individual Coach. Further information available on Registration Page.
The season typically runs October through March and each Spring produces an Ice Show; a choreographed program with routines participants have learned and practiced during the season.
So come Skate with us after school at the Bay Center!
